The Storage Explorer visual enables connections to various cloud storage, providing a native file browsing experience in Power BI. This capability is particularly advantageous for business users and data analysts. It simplifies the process of sharing and collaborating on sets of files and data, eliminating the need for additional desktop installations and enhancing the overall user experience. It brings everything you need to support data analytics processes into your favorite BI tool.
The Storage Explorer visual is not limited to just viewing the contents of your cloud storage. In fact, you can drag&drop, upload, delete and rename files, as well as of course download them. It supports hotkeys, such as the ‘delete’ key, as well as F2, to rename files. Finally, it also offers error protection for cases such as moving or uploading a file to a folder that already contains a file with the same name, in which case it displays a confirmation dialog.
In essence, Storage Explorer is a complete file browser.
Most cloud storage services also provide solutions to operate with folders, although usually they are not very intuitive. Storage Explorer works just like a file/folder browser, and allows creating, renaming, moving and deleting folders in the same way as local file browsers do. As with the files, Storage Explorer also offers error protection when trying to create/rename/move folders with names that already exist.
