Getting Started

<aside>

Do I need an OpenAI or Azure account to use the chatbot?

No. By default, the chatbot uses a model deployment provided by Creative Data. You only need an account if you want to use your own OpenAI or Azure OpenAI model (available with the Pro and Premium licenses).

<aside>

Why does a consent window appear the first time I use the visual?

Microsoft asks you to allow the custom visual to sign you in to the chatbot service, and to read Power BI datasets on your behalf. Your administrator may also grant consent once for the whole organization.

Does the visual work in any Power BI environment?

Sign-in works in Power BI Service, Desktop and Mobile. It is not available in embedded reports, Publish to Web or Report Server, where the visual runs without sign-in and with Free features only.

Plans and Limits

<aside>

Why does the chatbot say I reached a limit?

Each plan limits the rate of messages per minute, which clears after a short wait. Check the available plans in the store to know more about your plan’s limits. The conversation’s context limit is native to the language model used, and can be cleared by starting a new conversation with the reset button

<aside>

How can I upgrade my plan?

Pro is purchased through Microsoft AppSource, under ‘Plans + Pricing’ in the visual’s page. Premium can be purchased through Microsoft AppSource as well, contact Creative Data to arrange and activate your dedicated service.

Data and Privacy

<aside>

Who can see my conversations?

Only you. Conversations and files are tied to your Microsoft identity and to the conversation thread. Other users of the same report cannot access your conversations.

</aside>

<aside>

Is my data used to train models?

No. Azure OpenAI does not use customer data to train models. If you use your own OpenAI account, its own data policy will apply.

</aside>

<aside>

Is my API key safe?

While using your own deployment configured inside the Language Model option, your API key is sent in the HTTPS request and never stored in the backend. However, the API key is stored as a property in your report, and it will be accessible to anyone who can edit the report. We recommend using a key restricted to this purpose.

Documents, Datasets and Semantic Models

<aside>

Why can’t I upload a file?

Documents allow the following extensions: PDF, Word, PowerPoint, HTML, Markdown, text, JSON, PNG, JPG and JPEG. For uploaded datasets, the following formats are allowed: CSV, TSV, Excel, Parquet, Feather and Arrow. The file size of your document may also exceed the file size or conversation size limits of your plan. You can check the available plans and limits in the visuals page in Microsoft AppSource. Also check if your document is malformed or contains no text.

<aside>

How do I connect a semantic model?

Enter the dataset ID in the visual’s format pane, under Semantic model. Check the Troubleshooting Guide for more information about how to obtain your dataset ID. **This feature requires a Pro or Premium license. The chatbot also needs permission to read your datasets on your behalf, click Grant access when the popup arises.

</aside>

<aside>

Why can’t I are some results truncated?

Some datasets may be too big for the model to process, as well as the context window. A query will return at most 1000 rows. Ask for filtered or aggregated results, or for natural language analytics.
